About the Role:

Serve as the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test Director and work with hardware, software, applications, systems, industrial and manufacturing engineering teams to develop and deliver high-performance, industry-leading robots. This individual will work directly for the VP of Hardware Engineering and develop robust systems engineering, integration and test capabilities by building a talented team, developing scalable systems engineering processes, and fostering effective communication across the organization.

About the Work:

  • Lead the development, coordination, and growth of the company’s systems, integration and test engineering workforce.
  • Responsible for the management of the systems engineering, integration and test team members, and our systems engineering principles and best practices.
  • Responsible for overall product architecture and system performance
    • Serve as the engineering product leader within the engineering organization.

  • Maintain Systems Engineering best practices while building company process, tools, and standards.
  • Grow a team with diverse technical backgrounds.
  • Interface and direct cross functional project teams across engineering and the business
  • Support business development efforts and new business opportunities
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Production, Operations, and Sales teams
  • Provide systems engineering leadership for testing and reliability activities.

About You:

The successful candidate should be an excellent coach, mentor, communicator, and leader and have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/science/robotics
  • 15+ years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree with complex products
  • 7+ years of leadership experience in hardware, electrical or electromechanical systems and products
  • Experience as a technical lead, project manager or other demonstrated leadership role related to program execution on a new development program.
  • Experience in complex new system development from automotive, aerospace, medical, or similar safety critical industry
  • Effective communication skills and demonstrated success in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience managing systems engineering, test, and validation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across disciplines to build consensus and drive complex systems to completion.
  • Ability to drive team success through technical direction and empowerment.
  • Experience in HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA/FMECA, Fault/Success Tree, and other Hazard Identification and Fault Management tools
  • Experience in requirements definition and flow down, management, validation, and verification practices
  • Experience with or leveraging information from system modeling tools in the support of system definition and requirements development.
  • Experience with sub-system and interface definition, both internal to a company and with vendors or sub-contractors, in support of concurrent engineering development
  • Robotics experience and leadership in robotics organization
  • Advanced degree in engineering/science/robotics
  • Experience with agile development
  • Jira/Confluence experience
  • Smartsheet experience
  • Reliance or similar software experience
  • Doors / JAMA or similar software experience
